CC KUO wins Lookk prize in 1Hundred Designer Competition

Lookk’s newest coup, a designer competition with Fashion Blogger Queen, Susie Lau (Susie Bubble) and designer Manish Arora on the Panel, has picked CC KUO out of 100 other designers as the winner. The 100 designers to enter the last round were selected by the public.

Susie Lau said: “There’s also something quite charming about her use of prints and shapes.”… and I couldn’t agree more.

Lookk is an online shop, which works with emerging talents in the fashion industry by taking care of the production side of fashion and paying a fair amount of money for their creative effort. The company started as Garmz.com in Vienna, by letting anyone upload their own design sketches and letting Users decide which designs would go in production via a Voting system. The concept has changed since the early days and the headquarters are now in London but the Shop is still or probably increasingly becoming a hub for (semi) affordable cutting-edge pieces.
You can follow your favourite designers to keep updated about their recent collections or sample sales or discover new designers by browsing Look Books.

As I have already written  here and what keeps to be left out in the Sustainable Fashion Debate is Creative Sustainability. The Fashion Industry can be a hostile environment for emerging designers, especially if there are no parents or other investors to help them take off the ground. If we want to avoid dominance of big Labels and big Label High Street Copies we should always look out for fresh talent and support it.

Susie Bubble

She blogs on the more than 35 000 hits-a-day Blog Style Bubble and is famous for her extravagant shoe collection. Everything else about her is  bright colors, wildly patterned and matched. She is a UK-born Hong Kong Chinese, studied History and worked in Graphic Design before getting more on the fashion path professionally. Despite her flourishing career in all sorts of fashion projects and Full-Time Blogger she still feels as a “Fashion Outsider” . Compared to other crazy-successful Bloggers  she appears to be very down to earth.  She is someone, who expresses the essence of having fun with fashion. The way she dresses is pure creativity and maybe even a little bit artsy. Her style might not be the best for everyone to copy but if she brought one thing to many woman out there it is that shoes don’t need to match anything and that other people’s opinion really, really doesn’t matter.
