I’m still a little bit in Berlin mood…One of the things I found very inspiring there was the “Neue Nationalgalerie” and the exhibition “Modern Times” there. The building looks horrible in my opinion but it holds treasures: many, famous german and austrian or at least half german/austrian artists like Otto Dix, Kandinsky and Munch. But my favourite painting was by Ludwig Kirchner. I have not heard from him a lot before but his pictures are so fascinating to me. He uses a lot of urban themes set in his time the 10s and 20ies of the 20th century. A very exciting and life hungry time in Berlin. Especially his painting Potsdamer Platz 1914… it kind of has the spirit of fast paced city life…this is even reinforced by the green color of the street and the proud and sort of anonymous women in the picture.
