Up-cycled Art

This is Seo Young Deok’s latest work of art: a larger than life sculpture of a human head made of a mile of bike chains. It took him a year and more than 25 000 pounds to complete the work.

The detail of the the face and the emotional expression is astonishing. The artist earned a degree in Environmental Sculpture at the University of Seoul, which is probably where the idea of up-cycling old bike chains came from. ‘Dystopia’ is going to tour the world, heading to Istanbul at the moment.

  1. Hey.. saw the sculputre on Red Bull Magazin (comes with the SN, here in Sbg), and it bugged my mind the last days.. the dedication to make one big head for one year, and then the thing itself..
I like it. thanx for posting and the extra info 🙂
